An inter- collegiate festival called Malhar is hosted every year by St. Xavier's College. The event includes several live performances, competitions and exhibitions that belong to different types of art, theater and music and the participants are all students.
Festival is usually held in the month of August, colleges from all over Mumbai participate. The festival acts as a platform where students from all walks of life get an opportunity to display their talent.
'Malhar, the Annual Inter- Collegiate Festival has today become synonymous with passion, competition, anticipation, excitement and tradition. It also showcases the rich cultural heritage of India.
The origin of the festival can be traced to a dream of three strong- willed Xavierites in 1979 with a meagre participation of three colleges. This festival has now transformed into a mega event with 60 local and 15 outstation colleges participating in it.
