Mumbai International Film Festival

Held in the month of February every year, the international film festival, comes as an antidote when Mumbai is surfeit with Bollywood.

It features some of the best films from around the world; this is one event any movie lover would not miss. The categories are: documentary, animation and video retrospectives of renowned international and Indian documentary film- makers. It also serves as a platform to showcase new talent.

There is a jury that chooses outstanding works, and they are awarded cash prizes that add up to 2.7 million Indian rupees (approx. US$ 60,000).

It is the main film- medium organization of the Government of India and is well equipped with trained personnel, cameras, recording and editing facilities. This infrastructure is put to use to assist in- house as well as free- lance film makers and producers.
