Mr. T. N. Shanbhag set up Strand Bookshop on 20th November 1948.
His shop was one of the first in the world to give minimum 20% discount on all books. They do not offer "pulp stuff" as good books but only outstanding books in each field.
Now they give 50% or more discount on the day of publication on many books. They are reader friendly from day one.
The service is highly personal; their cooperative staff will help you chose the right book. Their collection of books, journals, coffeetable books, magazines, etc is very wide. Their big sale is a much awaited event in the city, where you get books at up to 80% discount.
They send books outside India. Normally the orders which are from outside the country are shipped through "sea- mail". The charges for sea- mail depend on the weight of the consignment.
