Mani Bhavan is a simple old- style, two storied building on Laburnum Road, Mumbai. This building is steeped in history.

The house belonged to Shri Revashankar Jhaveri who was Mahatma Gandhi's friend. Gandhi was India's renowned freedom fighter. Whenever Gandhi was in Mumbai between 1917 to 1934, Gandhi stayed there. From here he initiated Civil Disobedience, Satyagraha, Swadeshi, Khadi and Khilafat movements.

Library consists of around 50,000 books. It contains books on and by Gandhi, containing his thoughts, freedom movements and views on allied subjects.

The terrace now marked with a bronze sign with an inscription, is a place where Gandhiji was arrested in January, 1.

Research centre of bhavan prepares students for Ph.D. degree in Gandhian Thought and Rural Development by University of Bombay.
