The Nehru Planetarium was built on 3rd March, 1977 has developed as a Centre for scientific study of astronomy and for meeting of scientists and scholars for debates and lectures, arranged periodically on various lunar and Astronomical events.

It has a large domed building, popular with the city's amateur astronomers.

Planetarium is regularly crowded with school children so make sure you buy your ticket in advance. Adjoining the planetarium is the Nehru Centre, venue of many international trade fairs and local exhibitions. In the basement, the Nehru Auditorium usually boasts classical music and dance, concerts and plays.

To encourage young talented students Science quiz contests, Astro- painting, Science elocution, Astro- poetry and Astro- quiz competitions is arranged. Special measures are made to watch study and photograph Solar and Lunar eclipses.

Adult - Rs.35/-
Child (4 to 12 years) - Rs.20/
Booking Hours:
11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Mondays Closed
