The Sahar International Airport is the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport known today.  The said airport has been named after the Emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhonsle who was a 17th century Maratha Emperor.  This is the largest airport having both domestic and international terminals in India with an operational area of 5.9 km² which is about 1,450 acres.
